Rimfire fun with the lines of a modern sporting rifle: that is the S&W M&P FPC in.22 Long Rifle. It has a 16.25-inch barrel, a 20+1 capacity and a black finish, and costs about five hundred eighty-eight dollars.

The.22 LR keeps ammo cost low, so you can spend all day at the range for little money. The M&P FPC is a semi-automatic with a layout that mirrors popular centerfire rifles, which makes it a good trainer. If you plan to move to an AR-style rifle later, the controls will feel familiar.

It also works well for plinking, pest control around the barn and teaching a new shooter. Recoil is nearly nothing, and the sights or an added optic give good accuracy at close range. Twenty rounds in the magazine means you do not stop to reload often.

Rimfire ammunition varies in how well it feeds in different rifles, so test a few brands to learn which one your rifle likes best. Clean the action regularly, as rimfire ammo tends to be dirty. This rifle is new. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer of your choice for the background check and transfer.
