.224 Valkyrie was built to stretch an AR-15 farther than the 5.56 can. The Savage MSR 15 Long Range chambers it, with a 22 inch stainless barrel and a ten-round magazine, for shooters who want a flat-shooting rifle for steel and varmints.

The long barrel squeezes velocity out of the cartridge and gives a long sight radius. Stainless resists wear and weather, and it holds accuracy in a barrel that sees a lot of shots. The Valkyrie fires light, aerodynamic bullets that resist wind better than the usual 5.56 round at long distance. Test your chosen ammunition before you trust it in the field or for carry, and stick with what runs well.

In North Carolina, it suits coyote and hog work in open country, and long-range steel on private ranges. Recoil is mild, so you can watch your hits through the scope. The semi-auto action fires one round per trigger pull, with fast follow-ups.

Ammunition for .224 Valkyrie costs more than 5.56, so handloading helps. Use a good optic and learn your drops. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer, where the background check is completed.
