Compact rifles are not only for kids. Plenty of adults like a shorter length of pull and a handier rifle for climbing into stands. The Savage Axis 2 Pro Compact comes in 6.5 Creedmoor with a Cerakote finish, and costs about seven hundred twelve dollars.

The Pro series upgrades the Axis with a better stock and finish, and the Cerakote coat protects the metal from moisture and scrapes. The AccuTrigger lets you change the pull weight, which helps if you want a lighter break for target work. The 6.5 Creedmoor offers flat flight and mild recoil.

Those traits make the rifle a good learner for newer shooters and a comfortable partner for long days at the range. Whitetail across North Carolina are well within its reach, and so are coyotes.

Mount a scope that has good eye relief and sight in at one hundred yards. Wipe down the rifle after wet hunts and clean the bore every few hundred rounds. This rifle is new. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer for the background check and transfer.
