Young hunters and smaller adults often start with a.243 Winchester, because it hits deer well and kicks very little. The Savage Axis XP Combo Compact, model 32024, is chambered in it and ships as a combo with a scope, for just over four hundred sixty-seven dollars.

The compact stock shortens the reach to the trigger, which helps a smaller shooter hold the rifle steady. The.243 is a flat-shooting cartridge, and many North Carolina hunters use it for whitetail and coyote. Light recoil also helps build confidence, which leads to better shots.

Since the scope comes in the package, mount and sight it in on a range before you hunt. Savage's Axis line uses the AccuTrigger and is known for tight groups from a basic rifle. Ammunition for.243 is common, with many bullet weights available. Teach a new hunter to shoot from a rest first, then from a sitting position, and the rifle will do the rest.

This rifle is new. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer of your choice for the background check and transfer.
