Coyotes and hogs are a nuisance in a lot of North Carolina counties, and a flat-shooting rifle makes control work easier. The Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor has a 22 inch threaded barrel, a four-round magazine and a moss green and black stock.

The 6.5 Creedmoor is accurate and carries well in wind. It is not a heavy-recoil cartridge, so you can stay on target through the shot and see where it lands. The threaded barrel is ready for muzzle devices where the law allows. The moss green color blends into pasture edges and woods.

Ruger's American Predator is built for hunting varmints and predators. It has an adjustable trigger and a bolt that runs smooth, and the rifle is light enough to carry on foot. The 22 inch barrel is a good length for field work.

It would also work as a deer rifle for anyone who prefers a mid-weight gun. Top it with a quality scope and practice at a variety of ranges. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer, where the background check takes place at pickup.
