Short barrel, common cartridge, bolt action. The CZ 600 Plus Trail in 7.62x39 is the kind of rifle you keep behind the truck seat or hang on a rack near the barn door. It has a 16.2-inch barrel, a 10-round magazine and a black finish.

The 7.62x39 cartridge is widely available and inexpensive compared with many hunting rounds, which keeps practice from hurting your wallet. Out of a bolt gun it gives you steady accuracy at the ranges most Carolina hunters actually shoot, which tend to be short and through trees. It is a sensible round for hogs and for deer in the thick stuff.

CZ is a Czech maker with a long record of building solid bolt actions, and the compact length here makes the rifle quick to bring up in a stand or a blind. A 16.2-inch barrel means a little more muzzle blast and a little less speed than a long barrel, which is the trade you make for handiness.

This rifle is new. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer for the background check and transfer.
