Small-caliber hunting rifles come in many forms, and .22 Creedmoor sits at the fast end. The Christensen Arms Evoke has a 22 inch barrel, a four-round magazine and a bronze and green finish.

The .22 Creedmoor is a modern, flat-shooting round designed for varmint control. Coyotes, groundhogs and other predators are the targets. Because the bullets are light and fast, they shoot flat and recoil is mild. Expect hot barrels if you shoot a lot, so give it time to cool. A little practice every month beats a long session once a year.

Christensen Arms is known for light, accurate rifles built with premium materials. The Evoke is the company's entry-level hunting rifle, aimed at a buyer who wants a quality gun without the highest price tag. The bronze and green color scheme blends into a field edge well enough.

In the Carolinas, this would suit a farm with coyote trouble or a lease with fields that stretch past a couple of hundred yards. Add a quality scope and learn your holds. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer, where the background check is completed.
