Winchester's Super X4 is a gas-operated autoloader built to be lighter and faster than the older SX3 it replaced. This Hybrid Hunter wears a True Timber Prairie camo finish in flat dark earth tones, which works well in grassy fields, field edges and open blinds.

It has a 26-inch barrel with a ventilated rib and a fiber optic front sight from TRUGLO. The barrel is chrome-plated and takes Invector-Plus choke tubes. A lightweight aluminum receiver keeps the weight down, and the composite stock and forearm stand up to weather. The bolt handle and release are enlarged to make it easier to run with gloves.

It states a 3-inch chamber and a capacity of 3 or 4 shots depending on the plug. The reversible safety helps left-handed shooters. Pattern it with your choke and load before opening day, and wipe it down after a wet hunt. Most buyers find that steady practice matters more than any single feature. A few hours at the range with it will tell you more than any review.

This shotgun is new. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer for the background check and transfer.
