When the gobblers are talking in April, a gun that shoots tight patterns and holds up in the wet is what you want. The Beretta A300 Ultima Turkey is a 12 gauge semi-auto with a 24 inch barrel, a five-round capacity and a Realtree finish.

Beretta's seller notes mention a larger bolt handle and bolt release, which help in cold weather or when you wear gloves. The wider stepped rib, mid-bead and fiber optic front sight help you line up on a turkey's head quickly. The Kick-Off recoil reduction system takes some of the sting out of heavy turkey loads, a real blessing at the pattern board. Spend an afternoon at the range before the season so you know exactly where it shoots.

In the Piedmont and the mountains, turkey season runs in the spring, and the woods are still damp and cool. The Realtree camouflage helps hide you against a tree trunk.

Pattern your gun with several loads and chokes before opening day. Different shells and chokes can change a pattern dramatically. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer, where the background check is completed.
