A shotgun finished in Cerakote can take a beating that would leave a blued gun looking sad. The Winchester SX4 Hybrid in 12 gauge wears a flat dark earth Cerakote coat, and it is a semi-automatic built for hunters who work in wet weather.

The SX4 is a gas-operated autoloader. The action soaks up some of the recoil, so a long day of doves or a morning on the marsh is easier on your shoulder than with a pump gun. Use the right shell for the job, and check your county and refuge rules before you head out for birds or deer. A shotgun this versatile can handle dove fields in September and clay targets all year.

Cerakote resists moisture, salt air, and rubbing from boat gunwales. For duck hunters on the Outer Banks or the sounds, that is a practical benefit. Flat dark earth also blends into dry grass and sandy shorelines.

Clean any autoloader after a wet hunt, and run it with the loads you plan to use. Some semi-autos prefer heavier shells.
