A shorter stock and barrel make a full-power shotgun fit a smaller shooter. The SX4 Compact is a 12 gauge with a 3" chamber, a 24" barrel, and a four-round capacity, in black.

Compact in Winchester's line refers to a shorter length of pull, so younger hunters and smaller adults can shoulder the gun without stretching. A gas-operated semi-auto reduces felt recoil, so a youth who is ready for a 12 gauge can shoot more comfortably than with a pump. Pattern your chosen load on a large sheet of paper at the distance you expect to shoot, because every shotgun prints a little differently.

A 24" barrel is quick on the swing and carries easily in the field. It works for doves, clays, and with the right choke, turkey.

Black synthetic furniture is practical and takes bumps. The gun does not look fancy, and that suits a first shotgun that will see a lot of use.

Parents should take the time to make sure the fit is right and to teach safe handling before the first hunt.

New condition. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer for pickup and the background check.
