One shotgun, two jobs: spring gobblers in the morning and home defense the rest of the year. The Mossberg Flex 500 Turkey/Security is a 12 gauge pump with a 24" barrel, a six-round capacity, and an OD green finish. Check that the stock fits your shoulder before opening day.

The Flex system lets you swap stocks and fore-ends, so you can fit the gun to different shooters or purposes. A 24" barrel is a good compromise: long enough for turkey loads and tight patterns, short enough to handle indoors. Check the choke options and the legal requirements for turkey hunting in North Carolina. Take a young or new shooter along and teach safe handling before the first shot. Store it unloaded and locked, and keep shells in a separate dry place.

Camouflage matters in the turkey woods, and OD green helps break up the outline.

Mossberg's 500 series is widely used, and accessories are everywhere. That makes it simple to customize and repair.

Practice patterning your load at the distance you plan to hunt. New. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer for pickup and the background check.
