Waterfowl guns take a beating, and the Mossberg 500 Waterfowl is built for it. It is a pump-action 12 gauge with a 28-inch ported, vent-rib barrel, an Accu-Set choke and a fiber optic front bead. The finish is Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Blades camouflage, and the synthetic stock sheds water.
The chamber takes 3-inch shells. The gun weighs about 7.5 pounds and runs 48.25 inches long, with a fixed 13.875-inch length of pull. Dual extractors, twin action bars and an anti-jam elevator are all part of the standard 500 design.
A cantilever scope mount is included, which opens the door to slug hunting for deer where rules allow. An optional pistol grip kit is mentioned too. At under four hundred dollars this is one of the more affordable ways to put a camo shotgun in a duck blind. A few hours at the range with it will tell you more than any review. If you are new to the type, a short lesson from a patient friend pays off quickly.
This shotgun is new. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer for the background check and transfer.
