Few shotguns have as odd a name as the Mossberg 500 Tactical Chainsaw. It is a pump-action 12 gauge with an 18.5-inch barrel, a 6-round capacity and a matte blued finish. The barrel is a stand-off breacher type, so the muzzle end is shaped differently from a standard barrel.

The rest of the gun is straight Mossberg 500. It has dual extractors, twin action bars, a steel-to-steel lockup, an anti-jam elevator and a top-mounted ambidextrous safety. The stock is black synthetic with a pistol grip, and the sight is a white dot. Weight is listed at 6 pounds, and overall length is about 31 inches.

That pistol-grip layout makes the gun compact, but it also affects how it handles and kicks. Practice with it before you count on it for anything serious. The cylinder bore choke is appropriate for buckshot and slugs. Check your local laws about the barrel and grip configuration in your county. Buy a decent cleaning kit with it and keep the metal lightly oiled.

This shotgun is new. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer for the background check and transfer.
