The name Persuader has been on Mossberg shotguns for a long time, and it still means a short, handy pump. This 500 Persuader is a 12 gauge with an 18.5" barrel, a six-round capacity, and a matte finish.

A matte finish cuts glare and resists the wear that comes from handling. That is a plus for a gun you keep in a vehicle or a closet. Use the right shell for the job, and check your county and refuge rules before you head out for birds or deer.

The 500 series is among the most widely used pump shotguns, so accessories like slings, side saddles, and replacement stocks are easy to find. It is also a simple gun to teach to a new shooter, since the action does not require much explanation.

Six rounds plus a short barrel make a good home defense combination, and the same gun can be used for hunting with the proper barrel and choke. Anyone buying a shotgun for protection should practice with it, pattern it, and store it safely.

Listed new. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer for pickup and the background check.
