Benelli made its name with semi-autos, but the Nova is its pump, and it costs a lot less. This Nova Pump Field is a 12 gauge with a 26-inch barrel, a 4-round capacity and an APG camouflage finish, for around six hundred dollars.

The Nova has a polymer one-piece stock and receiver design that is tough and weatherproof. The APG pattern covers the gun in a woodland look that suits dove fields, turkey woods and waterfowl blinds. A pump action is simple, and it works with a wide range of shells, from light field loads to heavy turkey rounds.

A 26-inch barrel carries well and swings smoothly. For the money, it is a very good value for a shotgun with Benelli's name on it. Pump guns do take practice, so spend some time working the forend smoothly, which helps you hold the gun on target for the second shot.

Wipe down the gun after wet days and oil the action bars. Patterns vary by choke and load, so test a few combinations. This shotgun is new. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer of your choice for the background check and transfer.
