Many carry permit holders have wanted a Glock that fits the hand without printing, and the 43X is that pistol. The Northern version is chambered in 9mm Luger with a 10-round magazine, and the maker describes it as a compact Slimline frame.

According to the maker, the grip is compact in length and has a built-in beavertail, while the slide is subcompact and slim. That adds up to a balanced feel for many users. The frame takes elements from the Gen5 and Slimline series, including a short trigger distance and a reversible magazine catch. Many North Carolina permit holders spend more on training than on the gun, and that is money well spent.

The barrel is Glock's match-grade Marksman Barrel, with precision-milled front serrations on the slide.

Ten rounds is a modest capacity, but it makes the pistol slim enough to carry all day around Charlotte or Raleigh in warm weather. Many people prefer this tradeoff.

Wear a good belt and holster, and practice the draw. A lightweight gun is easy to carry and easy to leave behind if you do not build the habit.

New. It ships to a North Carolina FFL dealer for pickup and the background check.
